Designed for hunting or military use, this working, 1860s brass telescope features a leather grip with maker's plate for J. H. Steward of 406 Strand, London; the front section engraved Corp'l. T. Brown - from E. L. Betts Esq. - Preston Hall - Kent. Includes a brass cap for each end and a slide-down shutter for the eye hole. 46cm fully extended. Age wear and tarnishing.
