The finest in oriental objet d'art, these mid-1900s Kijiyama dolls are a much sought after style of kokeshi doll recognisable by their tall, slender forms and single-piece construction. Made from solid maple, each doll is painted with a traditional hairstyle, kimono and calligraphic script; the extra-large doll featuring a poem to the front and signed verso by maker Tokujiro Nakagawa (1930-2012). 23 – 36cm. In very good condition, with excellent colour from age
