19th-century French painted wooden shop sign: Epicerie

An original shop-front sign dating to mid- to late-1800s, hand-painted in three-dimensional lettering with the words Epicerie - Debit de Tabac, (Grocery and Tobacconist), the latter being an antiquated term for the present day Tabac. Time-worn and brimming with rustic charm, the sign makes a gorgeous feature piece for any wall. 103cm long x 32 x 2.5cm. The paintwork rubbed, but stable. Treated with a museum-quality wax
